Having been brought up on a farm in the country, working outdoors is integral to my painting. I have had the good fortune to travel to Russia, Italy, France and Spain as well as extensively in Scotland and regularly to Cornwall to paint. This has kept my work constantly moving and shifting its focus and colour values. Paintings have been shown in the SSWA and I have recently been invited to join The Paisley Art Institute.
I studied in Sir Robin Philipson’s Special Course at the Edinburgh College of Art and thereafter was commissioned by Colin Thompson and the late Lord Bute to form The Patrons of the National Galleries of Scotland. After successfully completing this exercise I set up my art consultancy and held exhibitions for artists, not only in Edinburgh, but also in Hong Kong and London. In 1990 opened a private gallery exhibiting these artists and the work of contemporary masters of art from Russia. This was personally sourced and brought back to Scotland, sometimes under extreme conditions.
